The right dosage needed for you depends on numerous factors, including; an individual’s constitution, diet and body weight, their rate of metabolism and level of activity.
The receptors in the endocannabinoid system are responsible for the way our bodies react to CBD. Therefore, changes in the physiological makeup of an individual will also affect the individuals CBD dosage requirements.
As a rule of thumb, determining your proper dosage, you can take 1-6 mg for every 10 pounds of body weight.
During initial tests, if you are new to CBD, the starting dosage for someone weighing about 68kg should be around 18mg per day. Somebody weighing closer to 100kg can increase this initial dosage to 22.5 mg per day. This measure can then be slowly increased or decreased depending on the individuals’ reactions.
Measuring Your CBD in a Tincture
One of the most easily accessible methods of using CBD is with a tincture. This method is effective as the oil passes directly to the bloodstream, bypassing the lungs and the liver.
The quantity of oil in a bottle is measured in millilitres (ml). The potency can be seen by the quantity of CBD in the oil, this is measured in milligrams (mg).
Using the tincture you can measure the number of drops that you put underneath your tongue and hold for a minute or two before swallowing, allows absorption of the CBD into the systemic capillaries in the mouth.
A dropper normally holds 1ml of liquid. Once you know the amount of CBD in one ml, you can calculate your dose.
Milligrams of CBD in a dropper = (Total CBD inside Bottle) ÷ (Number of ML in Bottle)
For example, if you have a 30ml CBD tincture that has 1,500mg of CBD, 50mg of CBD per dropper = 1500 ÷ 30
The result is 50 mg. If your CBD dosage is 25mg, you can use half of the dropper.
